The “Beet”mobile

So, my sojourn back to Maine and beyond.  Home safe and sound now, and looking back on how wonderful it was.

My old minivan was transformed into a fantastic super power machine – The Beetmobile!!

I picked up a load of beets at my brother’s house in central Maine to take to my friend in another town (and we roasted some of them into delicious wonderfulness that very night).  I also had in tote some for my cousin in yet another town.  Delivered them and they were received with much fanfare.  Beets, really?????  Yep, beets.

Had a blast from the past everywhere I went on this trip, so it seemed apropos to start calling my goofy van the Beetmobile.  Back to my brother’s for more beets to take to my other brother near Boston. A day later they were transformed into a Beet Pickle extravaganza.

Did I mention I also brought some home with me?

Beets!!!!!!!!! What a marvelous image of the generosity and fun that comes from growing things and sharing them with others.  The planting, tending, and sharing of my brother’s beet patch is a great example of doing good for the sake of others.   So much happened on this journey that was sooooo typical of what Goodness means……..that post is coming up soon.  I couldn’t resist a separate post on Beets.  It was just way too much fun.

As a matter of fact, here is a song about beets.  Just kidding.  But it is a song about love and caring and gardens.  And………..as a bonus, this guy hailed from Dover Foxcroft, Maine………cool, eh?  That was one of the towns where I stayed and felt the love and caring of old friends!

I was driving around delivering and receiving much more than beets.
