Three of my siblings were born in September. Mum was born in September too. For a number of years we celebrated all of our birthdays at one time in September. Started calling these times together "The Bradford Birthday Bash". We had some fabulous get togethers, with lots of great memories created. There were even a …
80 years ago today….
Well, yesterday to be exact...........Mum and Dad were married. August 13, 1938. Growing up, I always knew when their anniversary was. I haven't remembered their special day for a while now. Yesterday, I just kept thinking about them and finally I realized why. Nice. Mum was born in 1919, and next month she would be …
Spit Shine
Being born and raised in Maine, I know all about how to clean the front of a car during bug season. Mum often referred to cleaning something as "giving it a spit shine". I honestly never gave that term much thought. (Kinda like "keep your eyes peeled".....best not to think too deep sometimes.) I bet …
Drum roll…….Maine to Colorado
and back home again to Ohio! Have you ever wanted to do something that made no sense at all? Well, I am at that point, and having a great time while I try to figure out why I want so badly to do this. Drumming.........it is speaking so strongly to my soul, that I have …
Hot Air Balloons
Have you ever been sitting in exactly the right place at the right time? Here is a good one for the Grammy and Grampy history book. Self Control
So, I have been planning to post about Self Control in January. It is the final Fruit of the Spirit, and some would agree it is the one needed to utilize all the others............. It isn't lost on me that it is not January yet, and I can't find enough self control to hold this …
Gentleness
We are full bore into what our family jokingly calls "The Eating Season". Starts with candy at Halloween and ends with candy at Easter. Some call it the holiday season........but I really love the idea of calling it "The Eating Season". What does it have to do with Gentleness? Year after year we think …
“Angels Wear Baggy Pants”
I learned recently that my Dad belonged to "The 22 Club" at the Atlas Plywood Mill in Greenville, Maine in the 40's and 50's. He would be 101 years old if still with us here on earth, so that would have made him in his late 20's to his early 40's. Anyway, in those days …
